Dry Humour on the Wet Coast

The smell of coffee and soy milk permiates my being and Meeting semi-famous people

And I don’t like it all that much to tell you the truth. But there is one good thing about working in a coffee shop: coffee covers up all other smells. It’s like Febreeze, so I don’t have to watch my work shirt every damn day.

Anyway, I’m at a competing store using the free high-speed right now. I like it a lot better here than I do at the one I work at. The music is better, the lighting is better and the chairs are more comfortable. Even I even like the clientele better. Right now I’m sitting at a row of tables and the two people to my immediate right (about 375 and 500 cm away from me) are both using MacBooks. And I just overhead one of them talk about going to the Sundance Film Festival. It turns out it’s Dominika Wolski, one of the main actresses from jPod. She gave me her e-mail address and we’re going to see if I can line up an article on her for one of the outlets I freelance for.

She has since left and another Mac user (A MacBook PRO non the less!) has taken her place. She’s sitting where the faux-Tom Selleck was sitting that one time. I love this place.

The Destroyer review is going to have to wait until tomorrow. The shitcrap Rogers Wireless Internet we’re currently sporting back at the apartment has a habit of loosing the download signal for bigger files. So after about 5 tries, I gave up and I’m not downloading it over here.

So there’s a chance that I’m going to get a gig writing an Events Calendar for a magazine out here in VanCity. It’ll entail talking to bar owners, promotors, bands and scenesters to get the skinny on what’s crackalackin’ with the indie kids. There’s only one problem: I’m only going to get comped about a c-note for every one I produce, which is only two a month. That’s not coffee-shop-quittin’ money. But it may be pay-my-debts-faster money, and it may lead to bigger gigs in the future. Here’s hoping.

AH HELL!

The download stopped 3/4 of the way through! Damn you Sendspace.

Damn you.

The dogs just ate and I’m drinking a cup of cold coffee. I’m going to try to run in 20 minutes, but Oh man, I haven’t been up this early in months. This may be the first time I’ve seen Vancouver before 6.

I work at 7:15, so this is the only way I’ll be able to get some exercise in before I have to head down to the shop. For some reason, if I don’t go to the gym before work, it’s really hard for me to go at all.

The new Destroyer leaked, so I’ll be writing about that later.

damn it’s early.
